Update on The TV Issue

I have been surprised by how little having cable TV is bothering me. I thought it would be difficult to peel hubby away from it but he is actually being quite good about it and being more selective about what he watches, if anything. I think even he knows that it is a BAD thing to be forever glued in front of the box.

And if the truth be told I love having all the choices for movies. I just record anything I might like to watch and indulge in a new movie whenever I have to tackle the ironing pile. Excellent!

It is saving a fortune because I used to buy quite a few DVDs for the same purpose. I only bought most of them once they came down a bit from the new release price however cable is definitely cheaper than my DVD habit and i don't have to worry about where to put an endlessly expanding DVD collection.

However books are another story. Hubbie hates to get rid of books once they are bought and we are a family of readers so before long the house will be taken over by bookshelves. I really don't the New York Public Library look will be in this year or next...

Aargh! We Just Ordered Cable TV

My husband has been hankering after cable TV for a good number of years but I always thought the addition of 100s of extra channels would be the end for us.

It drives me mad when he flicks over the channels with the remote control especially when some guy is in mid-sentence and I was half-listening to it. I can't think what it will be like when he is flicking through so many more. I think it's a guy thing. They have complete power and control of that one world - the TV.

I hate to think of TV taking over our lives and we have made do with a 22" with the basic channels in the corner of the lounge for years.

But anyway, my husband loves sport so much, and it was starting to be that you had to have cable to see the good matches and games apparently so I gave in and last week when we upgraded to a 37" LCD we decided to give cable a go. It's being installed on Tuesday.

But aargh, have I done the right thing? Time will tell.
